All 4 music labels DRM free
Within a year of Steve Jobs open letter titled ‘Thoughts on Music‘ all 4 music labels have dropped some or all DRM from there digital library.
EMI was the first to sell DRM free music in Apple’s iTunes music store soon followed by Vivendi’s Universal. And last December Warner Music Group made the decision to drop DRM. Now Sony BMG as the last one of the 4 major music labels will sell part of its music library without DRM.
This is a great victory for us, the consumer. Now we’re no longer bound to one brand or device.
A passage out of the open letter from Steve Jobs ‘Thoughts on Music‘.
The third alternative is to abolish DRMs entirely. Imagine a world where every online store sells DRM-free music encoded in open licensable formats. In such a world, any player can play music purchased from any store, and any store can sell music which is playable on all players. This is clearly the best alternative for consumers, and Apple would embrace it in a heartbeat. If the big four music companies would license Apple their music without the requirement that it be protected with a DRM, we would switch to selling only DRM-free music on our iTunes store. Every iPod ever made will play this DRM-free music.Steve we’re almost there.

Macworld is here soon
January 15 is the day Steve Jobs(CEO of Apple) will give another one his famed and highly watched keynotes. And just as last year when he showed us the iPhone for the first time he probably has something new and special plant for us, the consumer.
There are already floating alot of rumors around on the internet, some are reasonably possible and some are wildly insane but still they’re rumors and some of the time there’s a grain of truth to them.
Here is een summary of the rumors for Macworld 2008,
- Jay-Z and Apple starting a record label.
- An ultra portable Macbook with no cd/dvd drive and a Solid State Harddisk so that the thickness can be reduced by 50% compare to a Macbook Pro models. It would also have a 13 inch LED screen and an extra wide multi-touch touchpad.
- An iPhone with 3G for fast internet.
