Plain water has been used by the Japanese as a preventive measure against many health problems for centuries, and ever since their tradition became known to the Western world, it has begun a new craze.
The benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach has been backed up by a lot of researches which claim that water can be extremely useful for the prevention and treatment of arthritis, epilepsy, migraines, muscular pains, heart problems, high cholesterol, meningitis, nausea, asthma, bronchitis, gastritis, diabetes, diarrhea, constipation, kidney diseases, menstrual pains, and ocular issues, among others.
How to do it properly?
Following the Japanese tradition is very simple.
However, forming the habit might feel strange at first.
You should start by drinking 640ml of water right after you wake up. Then, you should wait for 40 minutes before eating your breakfast. When you finish your meal, do not consume any food or liquid for 2 hours.
If you’re having trouble with drinking that much water at first, you can start by drinking less (but as much as you can), and in time increase it to 640ml.
